Guitar #1 - Yamaha Pacifica

One truth I've learned since I first picked up any musical instrument. Trust in all things Yamaha. Every single piece of musical gear I have ever touched made by them has been superb. Not just good. Not great. Superb. 

Their entry level guitars like the Pacifica 112 are no exception. I got this one used for $50, and it easily surpasses any Made in Mexico Fender Strat I've ever played. That's a $500 - $600 guitar new. If you are a beginner or getting a starter guitar for one of your kids, this would be the first thing I would turn to.
