Guitar #2 - #1 with a Bullet
Squier Fenders are Fenders entry level Stratocaster. They are made overseas usually. They are often scoffed at by Stratocaster elitists however they can be quite good (and sometimes quite bad) but if you know what to look for you can get a very good guitar on the cheap. I bought this guitar for $30 from a pawn shop. It had a broken tuner. However it is an early 2000's Bullet made in Indonesia. Made in Indonesia Squiers are usually very good in my experience. This particular one was 'ghost built' by a company called Samick and the build quality is excellent. It has one of the best necks I have played on any Fender. I replaced the tuners for about $12 but I had to ream out the tuner holes to 10mm to take modern tuners. Not hard but go slow and get a proper reamer tool to do it and not a drill bit. Doesn't have to be precise - just large enough to slot the new tuners. I then invested another $70 for a pre-loaded pick guard from Dragonfire (www.guitarpartsonline.com).
